ALL three of the North Scottish Golfer’s Alliance trophies for best six scores have been won by Inverness golfers after the final counting fixture was played at Muir of Ord.

With no reduction from his sixth place finish at the Black Isle course, Inverness Golf Club member Bryan Fotheringham’s already posted aggregate of 413 retained the K. M. Cameron Trophy for a second year before two Torvean members carried off both handicap category trophies.

With two end of season winning scores in the low handicap group Gordon MacDonald won the William Burnett Trophy with a nett aggregate of 402, while his clubmate Robbie Stewart the runner-up on 404.

Torvean’s high handicap section winner of the Bill McQuillin Trophy is Mike Lyall with Inverness member Liam Hutchison the finishing in second.

Alan Cameron, of Fortrose and Rosemarkie, was the individual scratch winner at Muir of Ord where his two under par score of 66 gave him his second win on the Winter circuit. His final effort, however, still left him just outside the aggregate prizes for season’s best rounds.

Cameron rarely strayed from par golf during his round and over the 18 holes he bogied only once, but birdied the third, sixth and 15th to head the scratch scoring by four shots from Neil Williamson (Elgin).

Following Fotheringham’s 413, the leading scratch aggregate totals were John Campbell (Grantown-on-Spey) 416, Kevin Thomson (Moray) 417 and Cameron 418. They all go into action again tomorrow at Moray for the championship event.

Meanwhile, preparations are already well under way for the popular Four Day Open competition at Inverness Golf Club, which will again be sponsored by The Inverness Courier and Ness Motors.

The event will start on Monday 1st July with the opening qualifying round. That continues the next day, before entering the match play stages on the Wednesday and Thursday.

Organisers are expecting a full field both for the Four Day Open and the Three Ball Team event that is scheduled to take place on Friday 5th July.

Entry forms for the Four Day Open are available from Inverness Golf Club’s website www.invernessgolfclub.co.uk
