Jake Williamson's poor pass from his box landed straight to Iain Maclellan who was able to charge forward and fire into the net midway through the second half.

It was a historic night as an estimated 700 fans were at Canal Park to see the first senior football match being played at the stadium that is home to Highland Rugby Club.

The match was relocated to Canal Park as repairs continue to Grant Street Park after a fire broke out on Christmas Eve.

Fort William dominated possession in the first half but didn't create any real trouble in front of goal.

Clachnacuddin had the best chance of the first half when Martin Callum's shot from 25 yards forced a great save from Mateusz Kulbacki.

Fort William did make Williamson work in the second half with Ross Gunn and Donald Morrison both forcing him to makes saves.

But the goalkeeper's error midway through the second half would prove to be the killer blow.

Blair Lawrie came close to grabbing an equaliser when Kulbacki was forced to tip his header on to the crossbar as Fort William held on for all three points.

It was Fort William's second league win of the season after beating Clachnacuddin 1-0 at Claggan Park in September.
