Ross Lavin (36) and Ash Anjum (75) got the team off to a strong start, before Nilesh Pote (82) and club captain Kevin O’Meara (73 not out) steered The Abbey side to 327 from their 40 overs.

Elgin scored plenty of runs themselves, but never came close to reaching their mammoth target, falling 93 runs short.

League leaders Northern Counties ensured their perfect league record would continue into the second half of the campaign with a 131-run victory at home against Ross County.

Shaun Thomas scored 63 runs in a strong opening stand alongside Alex Green, who was eventually bowled for 47.

David Dugdale and Mark Tucker then put together another strong partnership, scoring 48 not out and 46 not out respectively to bring the team total to 223.

Alex Green then took four wickets, while Nuwan Eshwara claimed two and Shannon Thorp, Matty Latimer and Luke Johnson got one apiece to dismiss County for 92.

Elsewhere Nairn County lost away at Forres by six wickets.
