The 30-year-old midfielder agreed a new two-year deal which will keep him at Station Park until the end of the 2024/25 season.

It will take him up to a decade’s service at Nairn after arriving from Fort William in 2015.

He says that he has been happy at Nairn County during his eight years at the club and is pleased to stay for longer.

“It was an easy decision to extend my contract at Nairn County,” he said.

“I enjoy it here, it is a well run club and a great bunch of boys and when you are on a run of winning football games it makes it that bit easier.

“I’ve loved my time at Nairn County and I saw no reason to change that.”

Mckenzie’s season has been affected by injury, but he has impressed in recent matches, in particular his performance when he scored in the 3-0 win over Banks O’Dee.

He says as they prepare to take on Lossiemouth on Saturday, he is confident their good form can continue.

“I have played in the middle of the park in the last few games and I am enjoying it.

“I have managed to get a goal, but I probably need to improve my average of one a season.

“Going forward, improving my goals and assists is a target.

“This season for the club is all about making up for a bad start to the campaign and see where it takes us.

“We will look to kick on up the table as far as we can.”

With only one defeat in their last 11 matches, after failing to win their first 12 games in all competitions this season, Mckenzie says the influence of manager Steven Mackay, as well as Ross Tokely in defence, has played a huge part in their success.

He said: “Steven has been a big part of it, there has been a change of ideas and a few changes in position.

“Ross Tokely has been a massive signing. He has been solid and great to play with and a lot of players look up to him. Him and Fraser Dingwall have been solid at centre back and it gives you confidence to go forward.

“It has been a massive swing from the start of the season. It allows you to go forward with confidence.”
