Reports claim that the Dens Park outfit were refused permission by Inverness Caledonian Thistle to speak with the 54-year-old who has a contract to remain at the Caledonian Stadium until the end of the 2020/21 season.

Dundee are looking for a new manager following Jim McIntyre being sacked after finishing bottom of the Premiership and relegation to the Championship.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle finished third in the Championship and were knocked out of the Premiership play-off semi final by Dundee United on Friday.
