MANAGER Duncan Ferguson says he will be looking to bring new players in at Inverness Caledonian Thistle during the January transfer window in a bid to move them away from relegation trouble.

Inverness are preparing for the final two matches of 2023 when they head to Partick Thistle on Saturday before ending the year at home to Greenock Morton.

After three defeats in their last four matches, Inverness find themselves in eighth place, only one point above Arbroath and three above Queen’s Park in the relegation zone.

Ferguson will be looking to bring in new personnel into the squad as he aims to maintain Caley Thistle’s Championship status.

He said: “The recruitment process is always ongoing and we are always looking for better players to push the group.

“I want to bring in some players as we are always looking to better the group.

"I have some good players already who have done well until the last couple of results and even then I thought they played well for me but it didn’t happen against Arbroath.

"That is ongoing and I will look to bring in two or three in January.”

Ferguson has contacted his former club Everton, as well as his contacts looking for new players to bring in. He says that loan deals may form a prominent part of his business dealings.

Ferguson said: “I have contacted a lot of clubs, including Everton. I have a lot of contacts in the game and we are using every avenue to try and bring players up here. We are fighting a lot of teams to get quality players up here. I am sure we will strengthen and the club will back me.

“Loans are a good way to go financially and players who are out of contract, but loans are one way we will try and utilise.

"I have my ideas just look to cover most positions and see what can be done. I am looking for good players no matter what position, just trying to bring good players to the club to go with the good players we have.”
