Inverness suffered a double injury blow as Brad McKay and James Vincent were both taken off injured in the penalty shoot out defeat at Raith Rovers.

Manny Duku gave Raith Rovers the lead before Shane Sutherland equalised midway through the first half.

However an own goal from Danny Devine gave Raith Rovers the lead again on the hour mark. But a James Keatings penalty and Roddy MacGregor's goal put Inverness in front.

But an injury time goal from Duku forced the game to penalties as Nikolay Todorov saw his penalty saved, James Keatings saw his spot-kick hit the crossbar and Kai Kennedy missed in the shoot-out to give Raith victory.

Caley Thistle made five changes to the team that lost at Hearts as Aaron Doran, Danny Devine, James Keatings, Shane Sutherland and James Vincent all started.

Raith Rovers went ahead in the 11th minute when Duku stole the ball off Devine and the striker charged from the right wing into the box to fire a low drive past Mark Ridgers.

But Inverness levelled in the 24th minute when against the run of play, a superb cross from Kai Kennedy on the right wing found an unchallenged Sutherland on the edge of the six yard box who fired the ball into the net.

Caley Thistle survived conceding a penalty in the first half after Wallace Duffy brought down Frankie Musonda. But Daniel Armstrong blasted his penalty over the bar as the teams went into half time level.

However Raith Rovers regained the lead before the hour mark when Ethan Ross’s cross took a deflection off Devine and the ball flew into the back of the net.

But the lead only lasted five minutes when Caley Thistle were awarded a penalty when MacGregor was brought down and Keatings converted to make it 2-2.

Three minutes later, Inverness took the lead when Keatings saw his freekick hit the left post and MacGregor was the first to pounce and give them the lead.

But Raith Rovers forced the game into a penalty shoot-out as Fernandy Mendy's pass found Manny Duku and he scored from eight yards out.
