Joshua Morrison put in a ruthless performance when he won gold in middleweight youth division with a first round stoppage.

There was also gold for Mackenzie Tyronney who also won gold as he won his age section.

HBA head coach Liam Foy says both fighters put in outstanding performances to become national champions.

“It is a massive boost for both fighters and the club to win after they had waited so long to compete,” he said.

“To have three finalists and for two to win gold is testament to the hard work of the boxers and coaches at the club.

“Joshua came to the club last summer and used to play football before deciding to change sports.

“His dad boxed when he was younger and has passed on his experience to Joshua.

“They have had a massive impact as a coach and boxer and great addition to the squad.

“It was a special moment for father and son, where Joshua followed in his footsteps by winning with a blistering performance.

“For Mackenzie to compete for a Scottish title was a special moment and he didn’t take any chances winning by unanimous decision.

“He is a talented southpaw and some of our experienced senior boxers are in awe of his skills and abilities.”

Jason Pierce lost in his final on a split decision as he came away with a silver medal.

Fraser MacDonald reached the semi final of his category, reaching the last four after a second round stoppage.

Craig Macbeath and Joe Kinsella both reached the quarter final stages of their respective competitions.

Jenna Gallagher and Keigan Mackenzie both withdrew through illness. Catrin King was unable to compete in the final due to the opponent failing weight.
