HEAD coach Billy Dodds says Inverness Caledonian Thistle need something from every one of their final nine games of the regular season to stay in the hunt for the Championship title.

Caley Thistle are on a run of 10 games without a win as they head to Glasgow tonight to take on Partick Thistle.

Inverness remain third in the Championship despite their poor form, eight points behind leaders Arbroath with nine games of the regular season remaining.

Dodds is refusing to give up hope that automatic promotion from the Championship is gone and the best they can hope for is a play-off spot in their bid to get to the top flight.

But he says they can’t afford to come away from any of the final nine matches without any points.

“We have to have that mindset where we need to take something from every game if we can, hopefully wins,” he said.

“We were unlucky against Hamilton and I’m hoping to take that into the Partick game because we are undefeated against them this

season, they have been a good opponent for us and we will look to take the three points which will be a good boost.

“You put any run together, and I go back to last season when we put a really good run towards the end of last season, we are going to need that sort of run.

“But we need to give ourselves that base by going and doing that now because the confidence will flourish.

“No chance am I giving up with 27 points to play for and when you look at other results, other teams are starting to think about it.

“But we have to do our business where we are capitalising on that.”

Caley Thistle should have a strong squad to take to Firhill tonight with long-term absentees Scott Allardice and Roddy MacGregor the only players definitely out.

Dodds said players returning to the squad are making a difference.

“The mood has remained upbeat. We’ve been getting a few players back and we saw the difference Aaron Doran and Danny Devine made last week.

“We’re getting a squad back. Sometimes we’ve struggled to fill the bench.

“It isn’t an excuse, but it is good to have them – and we saw the difference at Hamilton.”
