Robert Geddes stepped down as Strathglass manager at the end of last season.

A PROPOSED constitutional change means that Strathglass will not be able to name their new manager until sometime in the New Year.

The club’s annual general meeting decided that the incoming committee should have the power to appoint the management teams rather than conduct it at the AGM, which has traditionally voted on the appointments.

But for this change to be enshrined in the rules of the club, a special general meeting will first of all be convened to allow the constitution of the club to be altered to include the rule change.

That meeting goes ahead on Friday 14th December and if members gave the proposal the green light, the club will invite applications for the first and reserve team management positions.

It is understood that there will be at least two candidates for the first team manager’s post — a position made vacant after Robert Geddes’s decision to stand down at the end of this season.

David Balharry who has worked as an assistant to Geddes in the past, is expected to put his name forward and an application from Callum Duff, a former player, is also expected.

Duff moved from Beauly in mid-season and worked with Geddes in the latter part of the previous campaign.

With the festive season likely to delay the interview process, it could be January before an appointment is made — just weeks before start of the 2013 season.

Meanwhile, Glenurquhart have had a busy spell with a bungee jump in Perthshire, which raised £10,000 for the Highland Hospice, and their annual dinner dance at which various awards were made.

David Smart rounded off a stellar year during which he won his first international cap with the senior player of the year prize, while Drew MacLennan was the reserve player of the year.

Former inverness player Fraser Heath, who celebrated the MacAulay Cup triumph with a man of the match performance, was awarded the youth player of the year at the club.
