WALLACE Duffy says Inverness Caledonian Thistle must look to take maximum points from their next three league matches which are all at the Caledonian Stadium to maintain their Championship challenge.

Inverness face Greenock Morton on Saturday before facing fellow title challengers Partick Thistle on Wednesday.

They then tackle Ayr United on Saturday, February 19 in Inverness in a vital month in the race for the Championship.

Inverness have not won their last six matches, with their last clash ending in a 1-0 defeat to title rivals Kilmarnock.

Duffy admitted his team’s form has not been fantastic, but says they have to look at making the Caledonian Stadium a fortress this month to keep their hopes alive.

“We have got three home games on the trot and we are looking for maximum points,” said Duffy.

“We really need to pick them up and get back to the top of league.

“It is a big boost to have the fans back in as well.

“We’ve had a few tough away days, and went down to Kilmarnock which is never easy. We know we can play well at home and we need to make it a fortress.

“We are still in the running, the teams in the top five have some massive games coming up.

“There are only five points between the top teams and especially playing teams around about us we need to try and win as many as we can.”

Inverness have not won their last six league matches and have not won since beating Greenock Morton 6-1 at Cappielow in December.

Four points out of a possible 18 has hampered Caley Thistle’s bid to get back to the top of the table again.

But Duffy is confident that they are not far away from ending their winless run.

He believes that once they do, they can go a winning run again and put themselves back in contention to fight for top place with 13 games remaining in the regular season.

“We have not been too clinical or sturdy enough in the back and we need a good result to lift us,” said Duffy.

“It has been disappointing results for us recently, so we need to fix that and get ourselves back to winning ways.

“We know we are capable of winning these games and should have won in the last few games.

“There have been a good few points, but there also have been a disappointing few points.

“That is down to a lack of defensive discipline and not taking the chances when they come or getting the lucky breaks.

“But that is something that we need to rectify.”
