Wallace Duffy is looking to prove to head coach Billy Dodds he is capable of holding down a place in the Inverness Caledonian Thistle first team over the next few weeks.

The 22-year-old is enjoying a run of games in Caley Thistle’s defence as he has been playing at right back with the position previously filled by David Carson.

Duffy had suffered from injury earlier this season but has overcome the worst of his niggles which impacted him during the campaign.

But he says he is feeling good and looking to do a job in the back line.

“I have been given the opportunity to play and get as fit as I can,” he said.

“I have had bad luck with injuries and not got as many games as I wanted.

“But the gaffer has given me that opportunity to hold the position down if I keep playing well.

“Nobody will go into a game 100 per cent but I am feeling pretty good and confident that I am not going to break down with injury, touch wood.”

Inverness will look to end their winless run of six games in the Championship when they face Greenock Morton at the Caledonian Stadium tomorrow.

Their 6–1 demolition of Morton in December was the last time Inverness picked up all three points.

But Duffy says Inverness are close to winning matches again and once they do, thinks they can go on a run to improve their title challenge.

“We have not been too clinical or sturdy in the back and we need a good result to lift us,” said Duffy.

“It has been disappointing results, so we need to fix that and get back to winning ways.

“We know we are capable of winning these games and should have in a few of them.

“There have been a good few points but there also have been a disappointing few points.

“That is due to a lack of defensive discipline and not taking chances when they come or getting the lucky breaks but we need to rectify that.

“We have three home games on the trot and we are looking for maximum points. We really need to pick them up and get back to the top of league.

“It is a big boost with the fans in, as we have had a few tough away days and went down to Kilmarnock which is never easy. We know we can play well at home and make it a fortress.”
