The 25-year-old only moved to Station Park last summer, playing 22 times for the Wee County and scoring three goals.

Travel was cited as the reason for Treasurer’s decision, as he is still based in Fort William.

After making the move from his hometown club last year, Treasurer had travelled through twice-a-week for training and then again for matches, but he has come to the decision that continuing to do that would be untenable.

“It is a shame for us to lose John and we are all really sad to see him go,” Nairn director of football Graeme Macleod said.

“He had a conversation with the manager and I where he made us aware of his decision, which we fully respect.

“John was travelling up from Fort William twice a week for training then for matches on a Saturday. We came to an agreement to cut that back to once a week throughout the winter but it was still a struggle with the time involved and John was clocking up close to 2000 miles every month.

“It has been a hard shift for John and he is really gutted to be stepping away but the travel involved has made it unsustainable for him.

“John was always well supported by a strong family network, who we became familiar with over his time at the club. He was married over the close season and we all wish John and his new wife, Meghan the very best for the future.

“The door remains open for John should he feel able to commit to playing for the club again, but in the meantime we thank him for his services and commitment to Nairn.”
