Inverness Athletic manager Jason Golabek has urged his players to tighten up at the back if they are to go on a winning run in the North Caledonian League.

On the back of a 4–2 defeat against title challengers Thurso at the Naver 4G pitch last weekend Athletic face the daunting task of playing defending champions Golspie Sutherland at King George V Park on Saturday.

Jack Maclean scored Inverness Athletic's second goal in their 4-2 defeat to Thurso.

“It doesn’t get any easier,” admitted the Athletic boss.

“We will look forward to the game but it will be a tough – we don’t expect an easy 90 minutes up there.

“There were positives to take from last week’s match, but we need to cut out the sloppy goals we are conceding. Hopefully we will go there with a stronger squad after late call-offs last weekend.”

Athletic were forced to name a couple of trialists in their starting line-up, and also included 18-year old goalkeeper Scott Fraser, who has been signed on a permanent basis.

Despite conceding four goals the former Clachnacuddin younger impressed his manager with his all-round display.

Seamus McConaghy opened the scoring in the seventh minute.

But Thurso hit back with a vengeance, and three goals in an 11 minute spell after the half hour mark saw Aaron Wilson score either side of a James Maclean goal.

But Athletic grabbed a second on the stroke of half time when Jack Maclean swept home a Dominick Edwards assist.

Athletic gave a good account of themselves in the second half.

But they were left with a mountain to climb when former player James Murray pounced on a mix-up in the Athletic defence to knock in a fourth goal for the Vikings.
