Defeat at Ayr may force Caley Thistle manager's hand over keeping players after January

John Robertson says the disappointing performance from Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Saturday could force him into a tougher stance on potential outgoings this month.

It was confirmed last week that Jamie McCart had signed a pre-contract agreement with St Johnstone, with speculation abounding that the Saints would be looking to bring McCart to Perth this month.

Shaun Rooney has also been linked with a move away from Inverness, but Robertson says poor performances could make him put his foot down and keep his squad together until the end of the season.

“I’ve got more than enough faith in the players that are here, but one or two boys let themselves down on Saturday,” Robertson fumed.

“So boys might not be getting away from the club as quickly as they thought.

“Maybe that will be a decision for us to say Jamie’s not going.

“He’s a contracted Inverness player, and he may be required for us rather than St Johnstone.”
