Baxstar shines bright to win first senior title at Fochabers

Baxter MacIntosh caused a huge upset when he won the Fochabers Darts Open senior championship at only 12-years-old.

After already winning the junior title and doubles title with James Jackson, the Inverness youngster proved too good in the senior competition winning the final 3-0.

Baxter’s success, whose darts nickname is ‘Baxstar’, is even more remarkable considering he only started playing competitively nine months ago.

The Charleston Academy first year pupil was confident he could win the junior title.

But beating men with years of experience in the game even surprised the rising star.

“I felt happy going into the youth championship about winning it,” he said.

“But I was really shocked when I got that far in the men’s singles."
