The Inverness Summer Darts League released a statement that players could be excluded from venues should incidents it said has taken place continue.

The statement reported a white scoreboard in the Innes Bar was punched and broken.

Cars outside another venue had chewing gum left on them, and rowdy behaviour has been reported outside venues, glasses, bottles, cans have been strewn about.

Inverness Summer Darts League secretary Jim Macneil says that the incidents have taken place due to the actions of a small minority of players.

He says if the behaviour continues, it could result in players being excluded from the venues in future.

The statement said: "It has been brought to the attention of the association that a very small minority of Summer darts players are completely disrespecting the values and tradition of Inverness darts.

"Minor incidents are occurring, though not serious, are starting to mount up causing extra work and worry to publicans, managers and staff in the venues on which we rely to actually have a darts association.

Recently a white scoreboard in the Innes was punched and broken, cars outside another venue had chewing gum left on them, and rowdy behaviour has been reported outside venues, glasses, bottles, cans left strewn about.

"This is not acceptable to either the venue or the association and will not be tolerated so as a polite warning any misbehaviour in the future could result in exclusion from that venue.

"I would point out that the Association has no control over the running of venues but will support any decision that a venue makes and will possibly enforce it with action of our own."

"The statement continued to remind players it was forbidden to take their own drink into venues and that smoking should take place outside in smoking areas.

The statement concluded: "The ball is now in our court, use it sensibly, do not abuse what we have or we will lose it. Enjoy the rest of the season and approach all matches in the spirit and sportsmanship that we are more used to."
