The Johnny Foxes Inverness Skins Curling Competition is set to return to Inverness Ice Centre after a gap of three years on Friday.
The competition will take place over three days with the final set to take place on Sunday at 2.30pm as top players battle it out on the ice.
The skins format was developed in Canada in 1986 with teams competing for skins rather than the normal shots format.
Each ‘skin’ has a cash value which increases as the games progress.
To win a ‘skin’ a team must either win an end by more than one shot or steal the end without last stone.
Under the format, the teams winning the most cash progress to the next stage of the competition.
Taking part are 24 teams from the length and breadth of the country will compete for a purse of £4320 to become Johnny Foxes Inverness Skins 2022 Champions.
Among the 96 curlers taking part are some of the best Scotland has produced.
They include multiple Scottish, European and World Champions including locals Ewan MacDonald, Inverness and Ally Fraser, Nairn.
Additionally this year one player will receive the “Spirit of Curling” award as voted for by their fellow competitors.
The award will be presented in memory of George Macarthur who passed away earlier this year.
Along with his wife Joan, Macarthur was an integral part of the organising committee for many years and was well-known and highly respected throughout the curling community.
