DEREK Adams has continued the rebuilding of his Ross County squad with the acquisition of Jake Jervis on a pre-contract for next season.

The 22-year-old forward makes the move to Dingwall after leaving previous club Portsmouth at the end of last season.

"We had to compete with a number of English League clubs for his signature," said County manager Adams. "Jake will be a great addition to our squad for next season."

Jervis began his professional career with Birmingham City, spending time on-loan at Hereford United, Notts County, Swindon Town, Preston North End, Carlisle United, Tranmere Rovers and Portsmouth.

He then made the move in January 2013 to Turkish club Elazigspor, but only played four games for the club before having his contract cancelled in September last year after his employers were reported to have defaulted on his wages.

He returned to England in January 2014 and signed a short-term contract with Portsmouth, but has now chosen to try his luck north of the border.

Jervis is County’s second signing of the summer after bringing in former Dunfermline and Raith Rovers winger Joe Cardle (27).
