Clubs team up to take on top English boxers
Two boxing clubs are joining forces to take on some of the top fighters from the north of England in a special contest being held in Nairn next month.
Athletes from Jacobite Boxing Club in Nairn are teaming up with fighters from Highland Boxing Academy in Inverness to form a Highland Select that will take on a Yorkshire Select.
The event which has sold out is scheduled to take place at the Nairn Arts and Community Centre on Saturday, October 13.
The contest has been organised by Jacobite head coach Bobby Russell and will see 13 pugilists from both clubs compete against the Yorkshire athletes during an evening of boxing.
Russell says he’s delighted he is teaming up with HBA head coach Liam Foy, saying by working together they can offers boxers from both clubs greater opportunities.
