Club looks to make Nairn a boxing venue

Plans are being put in place to hold two major boxing shows in Nairn every year after the town hosted its first bouts in over 30 years.

Jacobite Boxing Club said it was blown away by the response from its first ever show which was sold out and as a result it is starting to see the amount of boxers at the club grow.

The club which was only formed 18 months ago, saw almost 250 people pack the Nairn Arts and Community Centre to watch their athletes take on fighters from across Scotland.

Club head coach Bobby Russell says he is looking to make Nairn a regular venue for boxing shows after the success of their debut event.
