IMPRESSIVE Caley Thistle swept to a classy 3-1 home win against Dundee in the Ladbrokes Premiership today (Saturday).

This result extends their unbeaten run to four matches, with two victories and two draws.

It also, incredibly, extends the Inverness club's unbeaten run over Dundee to 16 games.

ICT moved off the foot of the table on Sunday thanks to their last-gasp 2-2 draw against leaders and champions Celtic. Boss Richie Foran made one change with Jake Mulraney coming in for Iain Vigurs, who was a sub.

Dundee, who lost 3-1 to Aberdeen last weekend, brought in Michael Duffy and Michael Low, with Mark O'Hara suspended and Danny Williams dropping to the bench.

There was a minute's applause just before the action began for Caley Jags director Donnie Fraser, who passed away last Sunday.

Mulraney's pace was evident early on and he got past Kevin Holt before crossing for Ross Draper and his fierce shot was turned over the top by keeper Scott Bain.

The deadlock was broken for the hosts on eight minutes when Lonsana Doumbouya guided a fine header into the net from a Brad McKay delivery.

The Highlanders doubled their advantage on 17 minutes from the penalty spot.

A challenge on Billy King by Julen Etxabeuren was deemed illegal by referee Kevin Clancy and Greg Tansey stepped up and slammed the ball into the net to make it 2-0.

Dundee had their first opportunity on 20 minutes when striker Faissal El Bakhtaoui tested goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams from fully 25 yards, with the Welshman touching it past the right post.

Caley Thistle, however, was controlling the game, with fast football and some telling balls being sent into the box.

Seven minutes before the break though, it took another fine Fon Williams stop to deny Cammy Kerr after Paul McGowan cleverly picked him out in the area.

As the first half drew to a close, Dundee were getting more into the match, looking for an opening, but they could not get through the well drilled back line.

Dundee also began the second half on the front foot and it was clear that another goal was needed to kill them off.

McGowan then went close for the white-shirted Dee when he flashed a low volley past the left post.

That third goal arrived on 51 minutes though when a swift attack started by Draper was played on to McKay and he played in Liam Polworth, who drilled a low shot past Bain into the net.

Josh Meekings then drew a catch from Bain when he headed goalwards from a Tansey corner.

It should have been four on 64 minutes when a slack back pass from Holt fell to Mulraney, but Bain got back to stop the net-bound effort.

On 78 minutes, three quickfire chances in the box for Caley Thistle were defended by Dundee, with Bain gathering the final effort from Draper.

With just six minutes to go, Dundee grabbed a consolation when substitute Rory Loy cracked home a long-range free-kick, but it came too late to unsettle ICT.
