Clachnacuddin have the opportunity to play spoiler in the Highland League title race tomorrow when they host defending champions Brechin City at Grant Street Park.

Midweek results mean that Brechin have conceded the advantage at the top of the table to Buckie Thistle.

A 1-1 draw at Formartine was enough to move Brechin back to the top of the standings for now, but has opened the door for Buckie – who defeated Banks O’Dee 2-1 at home – to leapfrog them with a perfect run through their games in hand.

Clachnacuddin have already contributed to the drama at the summit, beating the Jags 3-2 last month.

Now, the Lilywhites can inflict yet another twist on the title chasers if they can get a result against Brechin.

For their own prospects, three points would see Clach close the gap on a number of sides above them, and a finish as high as 12th is still not out of the question if they can put together a strong run of form before the end of the campaign.
