In the past teenagers have jumped the wall to play football on the pitch, but after the latest damage to property increased security measures will now implemented to try and ensure there is no repeat.

"It's really disappointing," club chairman Alex Chisholm said.

"We try our best to keep the club going and move it on, people put in a lot of hours to get the ground as good as possible, but this is just pointless. There's no reason for it.

"We've had issues in the past with youngsters coming on to the park and kicking a ball around.

"If they want to play football, they will find somewhere, but we explained to them that this isn't the place. They have to climb over barbed-wire fences to get in, so it's dangerous.

"I'm not saying those are the guys responsible, we don't know that, but we've never had this before where guys have gone and damaged property. Why? It's crazy.

"For whatever reason, they have come in and booted the seats. It's disappointing, because we put a lot of effort into the ground getting it to a good standard. We want to improve it every year, but we'll get it sorted.

"We will find out who it was and move it on. We've alerted Police Scotland, so we'll let them carry out what they need to do."

The Lilywhites are due to return to action at Grant Street Park this weekend as Elgin City visit the Highland capital for a pre-season friendly.
