Clachnacuddin prepare to face Buckie in season defining clash in Highlands and Islands League

Sunday could prove to be a pivotal one for Clachnacuddin’s hopes of regaining the Highlands and Islands League title as they face leaders Buckie at Bught Park.
The Lilywhites were the first ever league champions back in 2019, but the early momentum they had built up was brought to a screeching halt because of the Covid-19 pandemic, and ICT Development became the second champions last year.
Clach have been in imposing form in the league in 2022 once again, though, winning all five of their league matches.
The only reason they are not currently at the top of the standings is because other teams have played more games – with Sutherland second after seven matches, and Buckie top of the pile with six wins out of six.
That is why this Sunday’s home match against Buckie could prove crucial for their title aspirations.
Win, and Clach could even move to the top of the table on goal difference depending on other results, but lose and they would find themselves six points behind a side with a perfect record.
The two teams have already met once this season, with Buckie winning 5–2 in the Highlands and Islands League Cup semi finals, so Clach will hope for a much better outcome this time around.
Elsewhere, Sutherland take on bottom of the table Brora Rangers, while Nairn St Ninian – fresh off the back of a three-goal comeback against Sutherland – will look to continue showing off their improvements at home against Caithness.
