Jordan Macdonald fully intends to sit down and discuss a longer term deal for full back Aly Riddle later in the season, he has said.

The teenager signed for Clachnacuddin permanently last month after being released from Inverness Caledonian Thistle, who he had spent the first half of the season on loan at Grant Street Park from.

Riddle would sign a short-term deal until the end of the season with the Lilywhites, and it could have been taken as a chance to prove himself to be worthy of a longer deal.

Macdonald, though, is a big fan of the youngster, and says the plan is already to discuss an extension past the end of the season when the time is right.

"We're already looking at a longer term deal for him," Macdonald confirmed.

"Aly just left Caley, and it's never easy when these things happen, so we didn't want to rush him.

"I was on to Aly straight away, and he gave himself a couple of days to get his head straight – which he was quite right to do, because it's not nice when these things happen.

"We wanted to let him know that we wanted him, and our opinions hadn't changed, so we got that done pretty quickly.

"We will be sitting down with Aly come the end of the season and sorting out a longer-term deal, but it depends on what Aly wants to do as well.

"We would like to keep him, I've never hidden that fact, so we'll definitely be looking to tie him down in the summer."

While the transfer window for SPFL clubs has shut, there are no such restrictions on when Highland League sides can recruit new players.

As far as Macdonald is concerned, though, barring anything special presenting itself all recruitment at Clach is complete for the season.

"We're done, we're settled, that's us," he said.

"You never say never, because you don't know what will come up, but we're not actively looking or doing anything.

"We're quite happy with what we've got at the moment."
