Clachnacuddin manager Jordan Macdonald insists no attention is being paid to the Highland League table at Grant Street Park.

The Lilywhites boss believes performances have defied their results so far this season, which in turn has them sitting 15th out of 18 teams.

However, a last-minute winner against Lossiemouth last weekend was a nice boost to Clach’s record, and this weekend presents another opportunity for them when they travel to Deveronvale – who sit immediately below them in the Highland League.

As far as Macdonald is concerned, though, the standings do not mean anything just yet, as he would approach tomorrow’s match the same way regardless of if Deveronvale were below them or leading the way.

“All we’re interested in is winning as often and keeping the boys as confident as we can – keeping the feel good factor around the club going,” he said.

“We attack every game to go and win it, it doesn’t matter whether we’re against a team beside us or at the top of the league. The approach won’t change for Deveronvale.

“They will be looking at it as a chance to get three points at home as well, so we’ll just worry about ourselves.

“We’ll go down there looking to go and win it. We always set ourselves up to win games – it doesn’t always work, we know that, but that’s the approach we like to take.

“We like to be positive and on the front foot, so that’s what we’re going to do again.”

Deveronvale are a unique proposition for Clach in the league this season, because he is not too sure what to expect from the Banff outfit.

“There was a lot of changes there in the summer,” Macdonald explained.

“They took a lot of signings in, so I don’t actually know an awful lot about them.

“If I remember correctly, when we played them towards the end of last season, they were quite a young team, but honestly I couldn’t tell you a lot about them to be brutally honest.

“We’ll get some info on them, and we’ll know more about them come the weekend.”

A late decision will be taken on the fitness of Shaun Sutherland, who was unable to train on Monday night after picking up a knock. Should the midfielder be unable to play, he will join Kieran Chalmers on the sidelines.
