INDIVIDUAL mistakes need to be eradicated for Clach to start putting together a winning run.

That is the view of assistant manager Allan Macdonald, who believes the vast majority of goals Clach are shipping are avoidable.

Three goals from set pieces condemned them to defeat against Buckie a week ago, while two goals have been conceded against Deveronvale, Wick, Lossiemouth and Rothes.

The frustration is that while the rest of their performances are improving, conceding cheap goals remains a concern at Grant Street Park.

“At times, our performances have been reasonable but we’re switching off at critical times and shipping goals. The goals we’re losing are defendable,” said Macdonald. “It’s probably down to individual mistakes, which is the brutal answer.

“We’re still looking to find consistency, which is what you’ll get with a young squad. Equally, there’s nothing stopping us going on a winning run.”

The visit of Keith to Inverness tomorrow gives the Lilywhites an opportunity to climb back towards the top of the table, given that their opponents have suffered the same inconsistencies.

Keith have lost their last three games against Cove, Brora and Fraserburgh, Despite those results, Macdonald said they are an improved side.“Keith will be tough opposition this season and always seem to be there or thereabouts,” he said. “There’s certainly ability in the squad and maybe they just lack that bit of consistency.”

Clach manager Iain Polworth will be forced into a couple of changes this weekend, with Ian Penwright missing through a knee injury inflicted by a poor challenge against Buckie.

David McGurk is doubtful while Calum Macdonald will be missing with work commitments. Ryan Ingram is expected to be available, however, after concluding his amateur football season.
