Clachnacuddin legend Robbie Williamson believes the Merkinch club’s board faces an enormous challenge in identifying the right successor to Iain Polworth.

Williamson, a past Clach player and manager, famously brought the Highland League title back to his boyhood club in the double-winning season of 2003/04.

The Lilywhites allegiance runs in the blood and has never weakened, with Williamson gutted to learn of Polworth’s resignation on Monday.

"I think Iain has done a great job," the 49-year-old said.

"Having managed Clach and knowing how difficult it is, they have to make sure they get the right person."
