CLACHNACUDDIN manager Jordan MacDonald is looking for his team to show their ruthlessness in front of goal at Strathspey Thistle tomorrow night.

He wants the Lilywhites to take their chances after suffering a disappointing 2–0 home defeat to Rothes at Grant Street Park.

MacDonald says Clachnacuddin were the better team against Rothes on Saturday and created a number of chances up front.

However two goals in the space of two minutes midway through the second half gave Rothes victory.

The opener came from a cross into the box which saw the ball fall to Alan Pollock who finished from eight yards.

Sixty seconds later, Michael Finnis’s cross from the right wing found Ross Gunn who volleyed ball into net to give the Speysiders all three points.

MacDonald says the defeat was a tough one to take for Clachnacuddin saying the better team lost.

“We missed chances and Rothes did not create anything,“ said MacDonald.

“Their goals came from set pieces, which is an Achilles Heels of ours where we do not stop crosses or get across the front and that is what happened, as before that, there was only one team looking like winning.

“We will take great heart from the performance as we thought that we were back to ourselves.

“We were excellent in the first half with the football we played.

“In the second half we were still playing good, but it has gone against us as they have scored from two cross balls.

“We should have dealt with the first goal and we lost the second goal quickly after.

“We need to learn from it.”
But MacDonald is confident they can learn from the defeat and take a positive result from Grantown tomorrow night.

“We now head to Strathspey Thistle and if we produce the same sort of performance against Rothes in the next two games it will hold us in a good place.

“We are back to playing good one-two touch football again and creating chances.”
