Jordan Macdonald is determined to bring some joy to the Clach faithful at Grant Street Park in the remaining Highland League fixtures.

The Lilywhites manager knows home form has been poorer than away results this season with just four wins and 13 points gathered in Merkinch compared to 18 on the road.

Last weekend’s home victory over derby rivals Nairn County was all the more pleasing for it, despite Macdonald admitting that his side was not at its best.

Lossiemouth come calling this Saturday and Macdonald, speaking before Wednesday night’s stern home test against Formartine United, made his intentions clear with six games to play, three of which land at home.

“Lossie are a capable side and, while they’ve had their struggles at times this season, they’ve picked up a lot of good wins against the teams around about them,” the Lilys boss said.

“It takes us back in front of our home supporters and one thing I’ve said consistently this season is that we need to be better at home.

“We’ve picked up a lot more points away from home than here in Inverness. I don’t know what it is. We can’t put our finger on it.

“We’ve actually played well at home and lost games. We’ve played better than we did at Nairn and lost games at Grant Street Park.

“We have another home game now and we’ll try and get another win behind us. Nothing changes in our approach.”

Macdonald knows his team could still pip Wick Academy and Nairn County to eighth place, but isn’t setting specific targets.

“We’ve never put a target on where we want to finish,” the manager stressed.

“We didn’t want to be where the club had been for the last couple of seasons, sitting third bottom and second bottom.

“We wanted to be more competitive against the teams around us and then, against the top teams like Fraserburgh, Buckie and Formartine, look to see if we could nick points off them.

“We’ve managed to do it against the teams around us this season.

“We want to finish the season strongly, but we have no targets.

“We’ve had a good spell, beating Nairn and Strathspey. We didn’t get what we deserved against Rothes. We were the better team but they took the two chances they got.

“If you don’t put the ball in the back of the net, that’s what can happen.”

Striker Connor Bunce will be available again for Clach this weekend.
