TWO photographs transporting us back in time have been unearthed during one Highland family’s clear-out – and you can help fill in the gaps.

The fascinating snaps were owned by the late Clach and Caledonian player Alistair "Baba" MacKenzie and were found when his cousin and nephew where clearing it out following his death earlier this year.

In the picture left, Baba is top right as part of a Clach line-up from some time in the 1950s.

Baba, who lived just off the city’s Rose Street in the Mills Buildings, also worked at Macrae and Dick.

The second picture shows the tartan-clad players and committee members from Highland League club Clach at Inverness train station in April 1951 on their way to Wembley to watch Scotland in action.

They were clearly in high spirits in this fascinating snap and would have been more so on their return after Scotland beat the "Auld Enemy" 3-2 on April 14 thanks to goals from Bobby Johnstone, Laurie Reilly and Billy Liddell in front of 100,000 fans.
