Plenty left in the tank for Clachnacuddin veteran Blair Lawrie

Blair Lawrie is 36 and enjoying his 16th season at Clach – and especially being back in the starting 11.
The Lilywhites veteran’s numbers are impressive and an approaching testimonial for the club number seven should not be misconstrued.
The Inverness police officer remains a trusted asset within manager Jordan MacDonald’s young squad, and not one ready to slip quietly into retirement quite yet.
After some poor results and a dip in confidence among younger players, MacDonald reinstated Lawrie after a string of positive performances as a substitute.
That decision coincided with a return to winning ways at home to Huntly and then a highly unfortunate 4–2 defeat away to a powerful Brora.
“At the moment I feel good,” Lawrie said. “I’ve been back starting games in the last couple of weeks and still feel quite fit.
“My legs feel not too bad and I’d like to think I can carry on beyond this season.
“I still really enjoy it, especially just helping along the younger boys and seeing them develop.”
As well as events through the season, there will be a friendly match in Lawrie’s honour next pre-season all going well.
The winger, who started out at Ross County and had a single season at Elgin City in among Clach service, remains focused on being a guiding light for less experienced players.
“Being an older player, I try to keep the younger boys positive,” he stressed.
“There are only four older heads now – myself, Martin Callum, Gary Warren and Paul Brindle – and we do all we can to keep things going.
“To be fair they have stayed positive and on board with what the manager wants to do.
“Things have turned in the past few weeks and hopefully it continues. It is a shame we don’t have a game this weekend just to keep building on it.”
