Clachnacuddin have to take Tartan Army spirit into game against Rothes

Sandy McLeod went from a galling spectacle in Russia to a grim ordeal at Grant Street with Clachnacuddin.

But between the diverse experiences as a Tartan Army foot soldier and Clach manager, McLeod was reminded that, in football, hope springs eternal.

Scotland, under Steve Clarke, bounced back from their Moscow mauling to beat San Marino 6-0 at Hampden Park.

Clach, thrashed 7-0 by Brora Rangers on Saturday, will now look for similar away to Rothes this weekend.

McLeod, absent for matches against Nairn County and Huntly because of the pre-booked trip to Russia, said: “I’ve followed Scotland for the last nine years, travelling with my dad.

“The trip was paid for long before I accepted the job at Clach. It was quite grim for Scotland in Russia.

“The Scotland manager and myself have both come through a difficult match, but I’d say there’s a wee bit more pressure on Stevie Clarke!"
