SEVERAL young riders from Inverness were honoured for their efforts over the course of the season at Grampian Motorcycle Club’s annual awards night.

The trophies were presented by international motocross rider Shaun Simpson, from Gauldry, Fife, who earlier in the day organised training sessions for club members.

Inverness were well represented at the prizegiving with Taylor Mair receiving his runner-up award in the 100cc quad bike class after proving himself adept at handling these heavy machines.

For those preferring two wheels, the starting point is the autos and Jack Rodgers, from the Highland Capital, enjoyed a good season as he finished second overall in this group, two places clear of fellow city rider Connor Stewart.

Third and fourth places in the 85 small wheel category went to Finlay Retson and Rod Mackenzie, both from Inverness, while Ian Findlay, last year’s Scottish big wheel champion, finished sixth in that class — a good position considering the local youngster has been badly hampered by injury this season.

There was also a prize for Nairn’s Henry Kerr after he claimed the runner-up spot in the 65cc section.

Meanwhile, Highland Motocross Club will be holding their awards event in the function room at the British Legion in Nairn on Saturday 10th December.
