Ciaran on cloud nine after world championships

The Smithton native (22) came out on top in multiple categories at the Tang Soo Do world championships in London, following his success at the previous event in Las Vegas.

He won gold medals in forms, knife, bo staff and sparring, became male sparring Grand Champion and even captained the British team to glory.

Docherty insisted he was always confident of doing well.

"Given how hard I had been training in the build-up to the competition, I expected to do well," he said.

"I’ve won previous world championships and I was part of Team GB which beat the USA at the last event in Las Vegas so I kind of expected to do the same again.
