RYAN Christie has signed for Scottish Premiership champions Celtic on a four-year deal.

The Caley Thistle star was at Parkhead this morning for talks and will return on loan to his home-town club for the season, with the option of Celtic recalling him in January.

Celtic are believed to have increased their initial offer of £500,000 which was made on Thursday night, prompting the Caley Jags to cash on Christie's services.

He will follow in the footsteps of father Charlie, who was at Celtic between 1987 and 1989.

Christie junior had a year remaining on his ICT contract, signed in May last year, and had been attracting attention from English clubs such as Swansea and Bournemouth.

His appearance against Dundee on Saturday was his 66th for the club since his debut against Celtic in December 2013. He has since gone on to be capped by Scotland under-21s, won the Scottish Cup and named the Scottish Football Writers' Player of the Year.
