RAF Lossiemouth signalled their Macallan Senior League title intentions with a crushing victory away to defending champions Highland.

Choosing to bat first, the home side were all out for just 95, despite the efforts of Jon Crabtree and Ken Goodwin, who made 37 and 26 respectively.

Stan Boardman and Neil Langham took four wickets apiece and with Gareth Bundock hitting 39 not out, they passed this low total for the loss of only four wickets.

The result leaves the airmen unbeaten this season, while Highland will have to call upon all their resolve to recover from this early setback.

Northern Counties’ bad start to the season showed no signs of abating as they were thrashed by 96 runs at home to Forres.

The away side posted 212 for 6 as Neil McGrath top scored with 63, while Fraser Merricks, Gus Farr and Nigel Gerrard all made contributions.

In reply, Counties were all out for just 116 with Shaun Thomas top scoring on 37. Merricks inflicted further damage upon Northern as he finished with bowling figures of 4 for 14.

Ross County went to unbeaten Buckie still searching for their first success of the season, but it was the home side who kept their place at the top of the table.

County made 103 with Toby Hardwick and Jerry Bishop on scores in the 20s, while Barry Newlands picked up 5 wickets for just 24 runs.

Buckie ensured there was not a shock result by passing the total for the loss of just two wickets. John Corsie and Daniel Walls were unbeaten on 55 and 26 respectively to secure the win.

Nairn recorded their second win of the season when the beat Elgin by six wickets. Elgin were all out for 144 — a total that was surpassed without too much concern for Nairn, thanks to the batting efforts of John Duff and Neil Gibson.

Huntly made the long trip to Fort William, but it proved worthwhile as Grant Barclay picked up six wickets to limit the hosts to 109 for 9. Huntly got over the total for the loss of six wickets.

The match between Fochabers and Keith ended in a draw after rain intervened.
