Winning driver David Bogie and co-driver Kevin Rae celebrate their Snowman Rally success with champagne.

SCOTTISH rally champion David Bogie from Dumfries stormed to victory in the Snowman Rally at the weekend.

He and co-driver Kevin Rae (Hawick) were in impressive form as they steered their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9 to win three of the five stages in the opening round of this year’s Scottish Rally Championship.

In second place was Euan Thorburn from Duns, together with his Inverness co-driver Paul Beaton.

Last year’s Snowman winners, Castle Douglas pair Jock Armstrong and Kirsty Riddick, came in third this time.

Top North driver was Andy Horne from Inverness who finished fifth with co-driver Jim Howie. Just behind them was fellow Inverness driver Donnie MacDonald and Keir Beaton.

Steven Ronaldson and Andrew Falconer from Inverness did well to take ninth place. Inverness/Evanton pair Allan Smith and Ian MacIvor just missed out on a place in the top 10, while Conon Bridge competitor John Morrison was just behind them in 12th place.
