CELTIC have made a £500,000 bid for Caley Thistle midfielder Ryan Christie, it is understood.

The 20-year-old has become a key part of John Hughes' Inverness side and it is believed that any deal would include Christie moving back to the Caledonian Stadium on loan for the rest of the 2015-2016 season.

Earlier this month, Hughes said he hoped a deal could be struck that would financially benefit the club but also allow Christie to stay in the Highlands on loan.

Caley Thistle have made a stuttering start to the season, scoring only three goals in seven competitive matches. Scotland under-21 cap Christie has two of those goals.
