Carson taking nothing for granted as Highland face fallen cup foes

Highland Rugby Club head coach Dave Carson is not convinced that their Scottish Cup clash with Watsonians will mean much when the sides meet in National One tomorrow.

The Greens won in the season’s curtain-raiser in the preliminary round of the knock-out competition, but that was at Canal Park while this weekend Highland travel down to Edinburgh.

Carson’s men suffered their first loss of the season last time out, but was hesitant to say facing a team they have already beaten was the perfect next match.

“Yes there will be confidence because we’ve already beaten them, but they were one of the Super6 sides,” Carson said.

“They were one of the new clubs put together, so we knew they would get stronger as the season goes on, they will gel as a team after bringing in new players.

“I think it will be a much tougher fixture down there than it was at Canal Park.”
