David Carson is a worrying injury concern for Caley Thistle, putting him at risk of missing tomorrow’s clash against Ayr United at the Caledonian Stadium.

The defender is struggling with a thigh injury he picked up in the 1-1 draw against Dundee United at Tannadice last weekend.

Manager Duncan Ferguson said yesterday the 28-year-old has been struggling with his injury this week.

He says it is unlikely that Carson will be fit enough to play against Ayr United on Saturday.

Ferguson said: “He is struggling.

“He nicked his thigh in training again and he has not trained and is a big concern for us.

“I would be amazed if he was involved on Saturday.”

Ferguson has also confirmed defender Jake Davidson is out through injury with Aaron Doran, Austin Samuels and Sean Welsh already on the long term injury list.

Ferguson said: “Jake Davidson is also out. He was off the team sheet last week and he will be this week too. He got hurt in the warm-up, so he’s out.”

Ferguson will be looking to extend his undefeated run as manager to five games when they face Ayr United tomorrow afternoon.

“I have seen enough from us to show we can win games of football.

“Let’s see where that takes us. We’ve had four games, but we’re still ninth.

“Everyone else is winning games and showing they are also strong.

“When I came in, the team had just one draw in 10 matches and everyone was talking about relegation.

“First thing for me was to take us off the bottom of the division. We’re still in the bottom two, so we have only started.

“The job has a long way to go. For me, as long as we’re in the division next year, that’s one thing ticked off.

“Of course, if we keep on winning, we can see where it takes us. It is close.

“If we lose on Saturday, we’re cut adrift. It’s tough if we lose games now.”
