Hillfoots will already face two four-point deductions for failing to raise a team against Highland, both this weekend and last weekend, with Carson of the mind that if league officials believe it will continue then the Tillicoutry side should be removed from the league.

Highland were notified on Tuesday night that the game would again not go ahead, after being rescheduled from the week before. It means Carson has been unable to organise a friendly game at short notice as he seeks preparation for big games against RAF Lossiemouth and a double-header against Gordonians.

Head coach Carson’s side will not be awarded the points from the postponed games, however, with it likely to be rescheduled for the New Year.

“It’ll go to the league committee and they’ll be deducted four points for each week,” said Carson. “They won’t just hand the points to us.

“If the committee get into Hillfoots and they can’t raise a team now, what’s going to happen later in the season? If it’s going to be like this, they should put them out of the league now so it stops other teams suffering like we have.”

The senior side have not played since the 53-0 win over Dunfermline at the start of October and will have to wait until next Saturday for their potential next workout, an away game against RAF Lossiemouth.

Carson could not hide his frustration at another postponement, after last weekend where both the first and second-string sides were robbed of competitive action.

“It’s hard for everyone involved. You gear yourselves up and want to be playing rugby, especially when the weather is good,” he said. “Trying to get a bounce game is going to be difficult so we’re going into three big games a bit rusty.”

With all of the junior squads on a fixture break as well as the Minis and Micros, who have a one weekend break from their training sessions, it just leaves the second XV in action. They travel to play Aberdeenshire 3rd XV at Woodside for what will be a good test for the visitors. With Aberdeenshire’s other squads being in action Highland know that they will not be up against a reinforced opposition.

Coaches James Hay and Alastair McKenzie will have a strong squad and possibly a few first XV players returning from injury to bolster it further. A win will be very welcome to push them back into the title-chasing pack.
