Rory Cross is Highland’s only doubt ahead of their National League Cup tie on Saturday.

Dave Carson does not think Preston Lodge will enjoy their trip to Canal Park for their National League Cup match this Saturday.

Highland already have two wins in National Two over their opponents this season, having won at home on the opening day of the season and down in East Lothian in November.

So Carson thinks that having to make another journey north in the cup will be the last thing they will have wanted.

“I can totally understand why, we beat them at home and then we beat them comfortably down there too,” he said.

“They’re still sitting mid-table, and we’re up in second. We’ve beaten them twice, and they’ve got to come all the way up to Inverness for the cup.

“We just need a good start again, having played so well down there if we start well at home I would hope we can get a good score against them.

“We can get the boys’ confidence back up and get some good rugby for everyone to watch again.

“We really want to kick on and get a good start before the league campaign gets back the following week.”

Rory Cross is Highland’s only injury concern for the match with a shoulder knock, but Carson expects everyone else to be available.

Two weeks without a fixture has allowed the club to rest up and get everyone fighting fit again.

“The last two weeks have been excellent, really good,” Carson explained.

“The boys have been refreshed with some light training, we did a couple of nights of yoga with them too.

“I think we were needing it. We had only played two games, but they were two pretty brutal games, and we had a lot of sore bodies.

“Because we’ve had a wee break now everything has worked out in our favour.

“It’s a home game so we’re not travelling, and that will give us a nice, relaxed game to get into and get everyone back up to full speed.”
