Highland captain MacDonald confident history will repeat itself at Biggar

Captain Stuart MacDonald says being the only team to beat Biggar this season can give Highland the mental edge in the National One top-of-the-table clash.

In September, Highland recorded a 19-7 victory against the league leaders in Inverness.

But whereas Highland have gone on to lose three league matches, Biggar have rampaged their way to the top of the league with bonus points victories in every game since their defeat at Canal Park.

Highland are five points behind Biggar in second place with the two teams due to meet tomorrow in South Lanarkshire.

MacDonald says the win in September proved his team have the quality to defeat the league leaders again.

But he knows victory at Biggar does represent the biggest challenge of the campaign.

“There is history between ourselves and Biggar having coming up from National Two together,” he said.

“Having lost against ourselves, they will be looking to rectify that and punish us."
