David Wotherspoon has become Duncan Ferguson’s first signing for Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

The former St Johnstone and Hibs midfielder arrives on an initial short-term deal until January next year.

Wotherspoon (33) brings vast experience to the Inverness squad, having made more than 500 senior appearances at his two previous clubs.

After emerging through the Easter Road youth academy, he played over 150 games for the Hibees before becoming a St Johnstone legend.

He won two Scottish Cups and a League Cup with his hometown Perth team, delivering assists in the 2014 and 2021 finals and winning the man of the match award in 2021.

Having played youth and under 21 international football with Scotland, Wotherspoon defected to Canada as a full international, earning 13 caps and scoring once.

The highlight was a substitute appearance against Morocco at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

He was named in Canada’s 2022 FIFA World Cup and 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup squads.

Wotherspoon was released by Saints at the end of last season, bringing a decade-long stay to an end.
