The Bulgarian under-21 international is joint club top scorer with five goals despite starting only three matches this season.

A big chance beckoned in Saturday’s league trip to Arbroath, but Todorov and the rest of his team-mates were in woeful form as they slumped to a 3–0 defeat.

That setback followed a home draw against Alloa and costly defeats to Morton and Dundee United, with John Robertson’s side gathering only four points from the last available 15.

Todorov, though, says he “trusts” manager Robertson not to write him off after the Arbroath start turned sour and stressed he had much more to offer.

The 23-year-old, formerly with Nottingham Forest, Hearts and Falkirk, would love to get another chance to prove it against Clyde in the Challenge Cup this weekend.

He said: “I’m gutted we didn’t win on Saturday, for the team firstly, but also because I was involved.

It’s unfortunate, but it’s a long season. I’ve been scoring. It was a bad day for everyone on Saturday, but it’s gone. I can only look my mistakes and analyse what I can fix and what I can do better.

“From my own perspective, one game doesn’t define whether I’m a good footballer or goalscorer. It is not going to ruin what I’ve done for the last four months.

“I think I have a place in this team and that’s why I will look back at my performance and see how I can improve.”

Todorov is frustrated ICT fans are yet to see his best.

He said: “I definitely feel there is more to come from me. I know I have goals in me but, when I am given the chance I have to grab it quick. There is no space for weak performances.

“I just need a run of games and I fully trust the manager and staff to give me that chance. I’ll just be patient and work hard for the team.”
