CALEY Thistle manager Terry Butcher will not announce any new signings until next Thursday at the earliest.

He stressed business was being done behind the scenes to re-shape the squad after he released 10 players at the end of the season.

"Maurice Malpas and I have been going flat out speaking to players and agents then faxing contract offers," Butcher said.

"We're making headway but although players who are out of contract became free agents today (1st June), the transfer window does not officially open until 9th June, the date at which the SFA accept registrations.

"One or two clubs may have announced signings but players cannot legally be signed and registered before 9th June. Most managers, myself included, will wait until then.

"But that doesn't mean that business isn't being done.

"We're encouraged by the response from people we've spoken to and there's every indication that some agreements will be in place next week.

"I know there's been some speculation but I won't be responding to that.

"Once players are legally registered, then we'll announce them but fans can be assured we're on the right track."

Midfielder Gavin Morrison has agreed a new two-year deal to stay at the SPL club.

Talks are ongoing with top scorer Adam Rooney, midfielder Stuart Duff, defender Kenny Gillet and youngster Shane Sutherland.

Inverness stalwart Ross Tokely is also close to agreeing new terms.

Former Stockport County midfielder Greg Tansey is thought to be one of Inverness's main targets after the player announced he was joining the Highlanders on social networking website Twitter.
