Inverness Caledonian Thistle have confirmed the deadline day signing of Wallace Duffy on a two-year deal.

The 21-year-old former St Johnstone defender, who can play at centre back or right back, has joined on a free transfer after being released by the Perth outfit yesterday.

Duffy is a Scotland youth international, making seven appearances for the under-19 squad, was a Saints regular under Tommy Wright in the first half of last season.

Moving to St Johnstone after spending time in both Rangers and Celtic's youth systems, he made 15 appearances in all competitions, and also featured for Celtic Colts in the Challenge Cup in 2017 alongside fellow new arrival Robbie Deas and former Caley Jags centre back Jamie McCart.

Manager John Robertson said: “We are absolute delighted to secure the services of Wallace from St Johnstone, he has some SPFL Premiership pedigree having featured regularly for Saints last season, under their previous manager Tommy Wright.

"I feel that Wallace still has plenty of improvement to come and could be a mainstay at ICT for years to come.”

Duffy is Caley Thistle's sixth signing of the season as Robertson has focused on rebuilding his backline, with Danny Devine also bolstering his options in defence.

Further up the park, Scott Allardice and Shane Sutherland signed earlier in the summer, while ICT confirmed the arrival of Rangers starlet Kai Kennedy on a short-term loan over the weekend.
