CALEY Thistle's failure to finish off fine football cost them as they slid to a 2-0 Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership defeat at home to Hamilton today (Saturday).

ICT had two points from their opening four games, so were looking for the victory ahead of the trip to Dundee next weekend, the last action before the international break.

Caley Jags manager John Hughes is still in the hunt for a striker as well as a better run of luck in terms of injuries clearing up.

There were two changes from the side which went down 4-2 against Celtic. The two scorers Ryan Christie and Dani Lopez came in for Carl Tremarco and Lewis Horner.

He's been running the rule over Portadown forward Darren Murray, although paying a fee could rule out that chance, while ex-Torquay winger and forward Toby Ajala is in the running with two more trialists checking in next week.

Hamilton arrived in the Highlands fresh from their sensational confidence-boosting 4-0 win over Dundee United seven days previously. They were unchanged from that afternoon.

Martin Canning's team are seen by many as relegation favourites, so they have been keen to get early points on the board to set the tone for the campaign.

Caley Thistle started on the front foot and Andrea Mbuyi-Mutombo saw his early shot deflected over the top before Dani Lopez's effort also drifted over the bar.

Lopez was in the mood and he drew a save from Michael McGovern when he met a delivery from Ross Draper with a header.

The one-way traffic continued and on 12 minutes Lopez's shot was blocked by McGovern from a Mbuyi-Mutombo assist.

Five minutes later the visitors had their first chance of note and it wasn't far off as Grant Gillespie shot inches wide of the right post from 25 yards.

However, they didn't have to wait more than a minute more to take the lead as on-loan Norwich City forward Carlton Morris beat Draper before steering a drive past Owain Fon Williams into the net after Ali Crawford collected a slack pass from Iain Vigurs.

ICT tried to respond though and Mbuyi-Mutombo guided the ball wide of target after a slick, swift move.

Mbuyi-Mutombo was involved in all positive moves from ICT and his shot from 10 yards was saved well again by ex-Ross County keeper McGovern.

Jesus Garcia Tena shot over the top in a positive spell by Hamilton following Crawford going close, denied by Fon Williams.

As the first half drew to a close, Liam Polworth drove a shot wide of goal after Danny Williams teed him up.

It took a while for the second half to burst into life and Lopez steered a shot over the top after a swift attack down the right on 63 minutes.

At the other end, Crawford shot over the top after being picked out by Crawford as they looked for a killer second.

Tena then went close with a downward header when he met an in-swinging corner.

Sub Lewis Horner could not get a boot on to a cross from Tremarco late on as ICT pressed for the leveller then Horner moments later was denied by McGovern.

However, there was a further sting for ICT as sub Louis Longridge scored when he got on the end of an Imrie pass to seal a 2-0 victory.

So the search for an Inverness CT win continues as they travel to face Dundee at Dens Park next weekend as they remain in second bottom position.
